Press conference “Movember”

To raise awareness for men’s health issues, the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics hold together with representatives of the Medical University of Vienna a press conference at the Presseclub Concordia in Vienna. The aim was to inform about the current research and therapy status of prostate cancer but also to address the importance of medical check-up’s and early cancer detections.

The appreciated speakers were

  • Univ.-Prof. Dr. Maria Sibilia, Head of the Institute of Cancer Research, Comprehensive Cancer Center (CCC) of the Medical University of Vienna
  • Prof. Mag.pharm. Dr. Markus Mitterhauser, Director of the Ludwig Boltzmann Institute Applied Diagnostics
  • Univ.-Prof. Dr. Shahrokh F. Shariat, Head of the Department of Urology of the Medical University of Vienna.

Movember was originally founded by a group of young Australians in 2003. Since then, the annually challenge to grow a moustache in November started. The foundation raises awareness for men’s health issues such as prostate cancer, testicular cancer and men’s suicide. The campaign addresses men and their family members. Everyone can take action, either by growing a moustache which can lead to inspiring conversations or by donating any amount to the Movember foundation.

The LBI:AD supports Movember not only by getting hairy but also by donating and collecting.
